UNIFORM POLICY

Each student, as an active member of the Shenandoah Band will be issued a band uniform. A uniform fee of $25 per student or $35 per family will be due by August 25, 2006. The uniform consists of a jacket, pants, hat, braid, and plume. Shoes will also be ordered on the first evening of Band Camp. The cost for the shoes will be $35. Students must provide their own black socks. Uniforms are not to be taken home. The Band Boosters will be responsible for cleaning the uniforms and for their transportation to performances.

CARE OF THE UNIFORM
1. Each student will be issued a numbered uniform bag.
2. Uniform pant will be hung on its hanger with inseams together, the fold lying evenly over the hanger.
3. Jackets will be hung on the hanger so that the curved part of the hanger is at the back.
4. Shoes should never be left in the uniform bag.
5. The plume will be kept in its cardboard conainer and in the hat box.
6. The uniform bag will be left partially unzipped after performances. Each band member will hang up their uniform after changing.
7. Any needed repairs will be reported immediately to the Uniform Committee. All repairs and alterations will be done by the Uniform Committee.

UNIFORM REGULATIONS
1. No jewelry is to be worn with the uniform.
2. A white T-shirt and shorts are to be worn under the uniform at all times..
3. Girls should not wear heavy make-up. NO MAKE-UP around the neck..
4. Hair must not reach the collar of the jacket. It must be put up securely under the hat. Be prepared with extra bobby pins..
5. Do not eat or drink while in uniform. Only water and ice chips are allowed..
6. Never carry items in the pockets that will cause them to sag..
7. Jackets should be fastened at all times when not in the dressing area unless the director gives specific instructions.
8. Students are to dress in the designated area only.

Any damage should be reported to the Uniform Committee. If the uniform is damaged by the student, the student will be responsible for the cost of repair. If repair is not possible, the student will pay replacement cost.

SHENANDOAH BAND MEMBERS SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR THEIR UNIFORMS WITH PRIDE AND DIGNITY. REMEMBER THAT YOU REPRESENT SHENANDOAH HIGH SCHOOL AND THIS COMMUNITY. UNIFORMS ARE EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH CARE.
